Background:

Our Muslim youth are facing more challenges from the world nowadays, due to the economic reasons many of them are lack of family teaching (both in education and religious aspects), the negative impact from the mass media, low self-esteem to be or to claim themselves to be Muslims, lack of vision and planning for their life. Therefore, The Dawah Committee of The Islamic Union of Hong Kong s organizing a one-month training camp from July 9 to August 8, 2005 at the Kolej University Islam Antarabangsa Selangor (KUIS) in conjunction with the RISEAP and IIUM for Muslim students during the summer vocation.

Aims:

The main purposes for organizing the training camp were as follows:


1. Increase the students¡¦ abilities and accuracy in reading and reciting the holy Qur¡¦an in the proper manner;
2. Enhance their Islamic knowledge, Iman and Taqwa;
3. Practice Islam more in their daily life after the training;
4. Enhance the students¡¦ proficiency in speaking and writing both Arabic and English languages;
5. Exchange knowledge and experiences with the Muslim students from Malaysia and other parts of the world;
6. Build up a connection / relationship with the Muslim Youth from different parts of the world;
7. Enhance cultures understanding; and
8. Experience the University life, and explore the possibilities for students to further their study there.


Program:


(1) in Malaysia

Weekdays: Study Qur¡¦an reading, tafseer of the holy Quran, Sirah (Life) of the Prophet Muhammad (s.a.w.)

Weekends: visited some mosques, Islamic organizations and sight seeing.

(2) In Singapore:

Spent 2 days in Singapore to visit some of the Islamic organizations and mosques. Exchange views and ideas with the local Muslims there.
