College Rules
Attendance
1. |
All students should be punctual in attending school. |
2. |
The school gate will stay open between 7:45 am to 6:00 pm. Students should get ready to leave fifteen minutes before the school closes. On Saturdays, the opening hours are between 9 a.m. and 12 noon. |

3. |
Students who are late for school must obtain a late arrival slip from the General Office and may enter the classroom with the class teacher's permission. |
| |
4. |
Students who are late four times in one term will be given a black mark. |
Leave of Absence
1. |
If a student needs to be absent from school for some known reasons, he/she should seek the teacher's |
|
prior approval with a letter of explanation from his/her parent or by means of the student handbook signed by the parent. In case of unforeseen circumstances, approval for leave should be sought as soon as the student returns to school. |
2. |
If a student is ill and cannot come to school, a letter asking for leave of absence or a short note in the |
|
student handbook signed by the parent must be submitted to the class teacher. If the sick leave lasts for two days or more, a medical certificate is required. |
3. |
Any student who has been absent must submit the leave letter or the absence record in the student |
|
handbook within three days of returning to school. Otherwise, the period of absence will be regarded as truancy. |
4. |
When the period of absence exceeds fourteen days, and if meanwhile there is no formal notification |
|
from the parents, the student will be considered to have voluntarily withdrawn from the school. |
5. |
If a student has to be absent from classes conducted after school, the same procedure for taking leave |
| |
should be followed. |
| 6. |
If a student is absent for more than 15% of the total school days in a term, he/she may not be allowed |
| |
to sit for the school examination. |
| 7. |
If a student is absent from a particular subject for ten times or more, he/she may not be allowed to sit |
| |
for the examinations of that particular subject. |
| 8. |
If a student has to leave school during school hours, he/she must obtain permission from either the |
| |
Principal, the Vice-Principal, the Pastoral Care Unit or the class teacher. He/she has to fill in an early leave slip in duplicate. Early leave without permission will be absence without reason truancy. |
| 9. |
The school calendar and class timetable must be observed strictly. If a student has to be absent from |
| |
the athletics meet, the school picnic or other school functions listed in the school calendar, he/she should follow the procedure for taking leave of absence as stated in para. 1 and additionally obtain approval from the responsible teacher(s). |
Class Discipline
1. |
Students must come to school on time. Latecomers must report their late arrival in accordance with the |
| |
reporting procedure and accept reasonable punishment. |
2. |
Students must quickly line up in the playground at the first bell in the morning or go to the classroom. |
3. |
Silence must be observed in the classroom, during class or recess time. |
4. |
Students must be attentive in class and they are not allowed to leave their seats or the classroom without |
| |
teacher's permission. |
5. |
Students must keep quiet, remain seated and get ready for the next lesson during change of lesson. If |
| |
any student wants to leave the classroom, he/she must get permission from the teacher taking the following lesson. |
6. |
Students are forbidden to bring to school any reading materials, including newspapers, magazines and |
| |
comics,
which are not suitable for students or audio equipment such as MD and MP 3. |
7. |
Students must bring the necessary coursebooks (with their names written on the cover) and stationery |
| |
to school and take them home at the end of the school day. Classrooms will be locked after class. |
8. |
Seating arrangements, once made, must not be changed without the permission of the class teacher or |
| |
the subject teacher. |
9. |
Students must always keep the classroom clean and tidy. |
10. |
Students are to treat school property with due care and any deliberate and willful damage to the |
| |
blackboard, desks and chairs, classroom fittings and A-V equipment must be reported the teachers. Offenders may be fined |
11. |
Students going to have lessons in another classroom must proceed in good order and take care not to |
| |
disturb other classes. The class monitor or the student on duty must turn off all the air-conditioners, lights and fans before locking the door. |
12. |
Food for eating and drinking are strictly forbidden outside the designated areas. |
13. |
Students must wear proper PE uniform in PE lessons or other PE activities. |
14. |
Students who cannot attend PE lessons because of illness must report it to the PE teachers. |
15. |
Students who cannot attend PE lessons because of health problems must inform the school and submit |
| |
a medical certificate issued by a qualified doctor . |
16. |
Students must take care of their own belongings including money and ID cards, which should not be left |
| |
unattended in the changing room during PE lessons. |
17. |
Students are forbidden to use any PE equipment without the permission of the PE teachers. |
18. |
Students of S4 to S7 must do self-study in the library during their free periods. |
19. |
Students are not allowed to use the lifts without teachers' permission. |
Examination Regulations
1. |
Students must keep silent and settle down quickly on entering the examination room. |
2. |
All books and personal belongings should be put inside the school bag, which should then be placed in |
| |
the designated area. After the examination, students must not forget to get back their own belongings. |
3. |
Students must put down their name, class, class number (or examination number), subject and paper |
| |
number on the answer sheet or answer book as required. |
4. |
Students must read carefully the instructions to students and the instruction to the question paper. |
5. |
Students (except those in S5 and S7) are not allowed to leave the examination room before the end of |
| |
the session. |
6. |
Students are not allowed to use any unauthorized aids, (eg. as electronic dictionaries) during the |
|
examination. |
| 7. |
Students who are absent from an examination because of illness will not normally be given a |
|
supplementary examination. When the sick leave is approved on the production a valid medical certificate, the subject mark will be given special consideration, and will not be counted as zero mark. |
| 8. |
Zero mark will be given for absence in an examination without a valid medical certificate or for absence |
|
without an acceptable reason. |
| 9. |
A major demerit will be given to those students who play truant in an examination and zero mark will be |
|
awarded for the particular examination paper(s). |
| 10. |
Students found cheating may be given a major demerit and receive zero mark for the paper. |
|
Students found cheating twice in the same examination may be disqualified for the whole examination and receive zero mark for all subjects. |
| 11. |
During the examination period, if the school is closed because of bad weather, the particular |
| |
examination will be postponed until further notice. When school is resumed, the examination on the following day will be conducted as scheduled. |
Awards & Penalties

Three accumulated black marks wi1l be counted as one minor demerit;
-
Three accumulated minor demerits will be counted as one major demerit.
-
Those students who have accumulated three major demerits may be expelled from school.

On teacher's recommendation, students will be awarded good marks or merits for: |
|
(i) |
outstanding performance in academic study, sports or extracurricular-activities; |
|
(ii)
(iii) |
achievements in community services;
exemplary and excellent conduct. |
|
|
- Three accumulated good marks will be counted as one minor merit.
- Three accumulated minor merits will be counted as one major merit.
|
2. |
|
Improper school uniform and late arrivals |
|
(i) |
One black mark will be given for three offences of wearing improper uniform; |
|
(ii) |
One black mark will be given for four counts of late arrival |
3. |
|
Minor offences
A maximum penalty of one minor demerit will be given for the following: |

wearing ornaments to school;
failing to bring course books or exercise books to class;
falling to hand In homework or found copying homework,
disturbing the class during lessons;

falling to follow the library regulations or laboratory regulations or entering the laboratory without permission;
entering classroom other than one's own w1thout a valid reason;
eating or drinking outside designated areas in the school;
spitting or littering;
vandalizing the wall;
using foul language; |

(xii) |
bringing to school any reading material, including books, magazines and newspapers, which are not suitable for students, or audio-equipment such as MD and Mp3; |
|
(xiii) |
organizing group activities that run counter to the school mission or violate the religious denomination of the school or distributing the propaganda material of any kind without permission. |

collecting donations from fellow students or carrying out sales activities at school without prior approval;
behaving rudely towards teachers, staff or visitors,
failing to carry out the assigned or official duties inside and outside school without any valid reason;

using school equipment without permission. |
4. |

Serious offences
Students who commit the following offences may be given a major demerit. The offenders may be
dismissed if it is deemed that the offence is inexcusable and detrimental to the well being of the school. |

(i) |
playing truant or skipping classes; |
|
(ii) |
wilful damage of school property (students may be required to pay for the cost of damage); |
|
(iii) |
insulting a teacher, staff or visitor in public; |
|
(iv) |
forging the signature of the teacher or parent; |
|
(v) |
cheating in tests or examinations; |
|
(vi) |
bringing to school illegal or obscene material such as sharp weapons, cigarettes, alcohol, firecrackers, lighters and pornographic materials; |
|
(vii)
(viii) |
engaging in outside activities the name of the school without permission;
discourteous and disrespectful behavior towards peers of opposite sex; |
|
(ix) |
entering the laboratory and using the laboratory apparatus and equipment without permission; (x) borrowing money by coercion or borrowing money with intent to deceive; |
|
|
Whether committed inside or outside school |
|
(xi) |
stealing, gambling, smoking or drinking; |
|
(xii) |
intimidation or causing grievous bodily ham to schoolmates, and |
|
(xiii) |
involvement in triad or gang activities. |
5. |
|
Cancellation of bad record
Students who have not be been given any penalties in the past twelve months can apply to have their bad record deleted so that such a record will not be shown in their school report cards. |
6. |
|
Comprehension Award Scheme
The details of the scheme will be announced by class teachers at the beginning of the school year. |
7. |
|
Academic Improvement Award
Students who have made a marked improvement in the examination and achieved a higher score of plus 3 in average mark or plus 0.3 in grade point average will be eligible for the award. |

|
Model students |
|
|
The criteria for selecting model students are as follows: |
|
(i) |
no penalties recorded in the year; |
|
(ii) |
passes in all subjects in the yearly examination; |
|
(iii) |
grade A in conduct assessment in the final term; |
|
(iv) |
supported by two-thirds of his/her teachers. |
9. |
|
Good Attendance Award |
|
|
Students who have not been late, or absent, or taken any early leave throughout the year are eligible for the award. |
10. |
|
Scholarship award |
|
|
The school has set up a number of scholarships to award to students with outstanding performance in academic studies, conduct and extra curricular activities. |
