About the Committee
The Professional Development Committee is dedicated to fostering a vibrant culture of continuous growth among our educators. We empower educators to refine their instructional skills and expand their academic expertise, directly enriching our students’ learning experience. By helping educators identify their unique professional goals, the committee actively supports their personal and career development through targeted initiatives, collaborative workshops, and structured growth opportunities.

Aims and Objectives
The primary aim of the committee is to ensure that our educators are equipped to meet the evolving challenges of the 21st century. In alignment with the new education blueprint/EDB’s requirement, we recognize the intrinsic connection between teachers’ professional growth and the overall effectiveness of the college as a learning community. Our objectives include:
Enhancing Professional Knowledge
Our focus is on developing teachers’ skills to foster positive attitudes in students, essential for their academic and personal growth.
Improving Teaching Effectiveness
We advocate for the incorporation of advanced technologies into lesson plans, facilitating innovative teaching and learning methods that engage students and empower them to become self-directed learners.
Fostering Lifelong Learning
We emphasize that professional development is an ongoing journey, encouraging teachers to model the values of continuous self-improvement for their students.
Raising Awareness of Healthy Lifestyles
The committee is determined to promote healthy living among teachers, providing strategies that can be integrated into their daily lives and classrooms.

Work of the Committee
The Professional Development Committee is actively involved in a range of initiatives designed to enhance teacher effectiveness and foster a collaborative environment. Key responsibilities include:
Planning and Conducting Training Workshops
We organize regular workshops tailored for new teachers, ensuring they receive the guidance needed to navigate their early years in education and especially in our college’s context. In these workshops, experienced educators and mentors share valuable insights into effective teaching and assessment practices and classroom management. This support system not only boosts new teachers’ confidence but also facilitates their integration into the school culture.
Maintaining Continuous Professional Development (CPD) Records
We Keep track of teachers’ professional growth to help them recognize their professional achievements and identify areas for further development.
Planning and Running Staff Development Days
The committee organizes at least 3 staff development days in each academic year. Staff development days focus on key concerns within the school annual plan and include a diverse array of activities such as seminars, workshops, and team-building exercises.
Managing Peer Lesson Observation
This initiative encourages teachers to observe and learn from each other, fostering a culture of shared learning and support in a stress-free informal environment.
Overall, we encourage participation in both school-based and external training programs, with mandatory attendance at new teacher training workshops for all teachers who served in college for less than 2 years. Participation in Staff Professional Development Days is mandatory for teachers.
As we look forward to the future, the Professional Development Committee remains committed to nurturing a thriving educational community. By prioritizing teachers’ professional growth and fostering collaboration, we aim to enhance student learning and school effectiveness. We believe that through dedication to lifelong learning and a shared commitment to improvement, we can continue to provide our students with the quality education they deserve.
Together, through a whole school approach, we will navigate the challenges ahead, ensuring that our IKTMC remains a beacon of excellence in education for years to come.
